FAQ About Team Play

This page summarizes common Team Play questions in a short format. If you want the joining flow and rules in one place, see Participant Guide - Team Play.

What is a Team Number?

It is the number used to link members of the same team. Participants who enter the same number become one team.

The organizer may assign it in advance, or each team may decide it on the day. Some events treat it as different from the Entry Number.

Do all team members have to start at the same time?

Not always. However, some events assume a simultaneous start, so check the organizer's guidance.

In the app, the team start time is based on the first member who starts.

Do all team members have to finish together?

Members may be able to finish at different times. How the team result is finalized depends on the rules of each event.

In the app, the team finish time is based on the last member who finishes.

What happens if one member retires?

The way the app displays the record and the rule adopted by the event may differ. In the end, the organizer's rule takes priority.

In particular, whether a team result still stands when one member retires may be defined separately for each event.

Can Team Play be used offline?

At the time of starting, having communication available is strongly recommended. Even if communication is lost temporarily during play, records may still be retained, but location sharing and real-time score reflection may be delayed.

Synchronization may happen after reconnection, but Team Number entry and team formation are safer when done in a place with communication.

What if another member visits the same checkpoint?

Even if members of the same team visit the same checkpoint more than once, the score is usually counted only once.

Can we use team messages?

Yes. In Team Play, members of the same team can exchange messages. This is useful for strategy sharing and coordinating meeting points.
