FAQ About Team Play
This page summarizes common Team Play questions in a short format. If you want the joining flow and rules in one place, see Participant Guide - Team Play.
What is a Team Number?
It is the number used to link members of the same team. Participants who enter the same number become one team.
The organizer may assign it in advance, or each team may decide it on the day. In the app, you enter it in the same field as the Entry Number (in Team Play categories, the Entry Number is the Team Number).
How many people can join a team?
The organizer sets a maximum team size per category. If you try to start with a team that has reached its capacity, the message "This team is already full, so no more members can join." appears.
Can I join a team using the same account on two smartphones?
No. If the same account is already participating on another device, a warning appears. Log in with a separate account for each member.
Do all team members have to start at the same time?
Not always. However, some events assume a simultaneous start, so check the organizer's guidance.
In the app, the team start time is based on the first member who starts.
Do all team members have to finish together?
Members may be able to finish at different times. How the team result is finalized depends on the rules of each event.
In the app, the team finish time is based on the last member who finishes.
What happens if one member retires?
In the app, it is handled as follows.
- If at least one member finishes, the team is treated as finished
- The points earned by a member who retired before retiring are included in the team's score
- If all members who started retire, the team is also treated as a retirement (DNF)
The rule adopted by the event may differ from this, so in the end the organizer's guidance takes priority.
Can Team Play be used offline?
Joining a team before the start (registering the Team Number) requires communication, so do it in a place with a connection.
Even if communication is lost temporarily during play, records may still be retained, but location sharing and real-time score reflection may be delayed. They are synchronized after reconnection.
What if another member visits the same checkpoint?
Even if members of the same team visit the same checkpoint (shown as "spot" in the app) more than once, the score is counted only once.
When communication is available, if you try to punch, the message "This visit could not be recorded because another team member has already visited." appears and it is not recorded. If a duplicate is recorded because communication was lost or for another reason, the score of the record visited first is adopted.
Can we use team messages?
Yes. In Team Play, members of the same team can exchange messages. This is useful for strategy sharing and coordinating meeting points.
Can bonus points be used in Team Play?
Combo Bonus works in team competition too, and is reflected in the team's total score, ranking, and the team result CSV. Bonus QR cannot be used in team competition (if you scan one, "Bonus QR codes are not available in team events yet." appears).
For details, see Bonus points (QR & combo).
