Results and Data Export

This page explains how to check results after an event and how to export data in various formats.

:::tip If you want the operational side of result finalization For how to think about photo checks, manual corrections, and handling missed finishes, see Operations Guide - Event day operations and Operations Guide - Operational decisions for trouble cases. :::

What to check first

It is easiest to review results in the following order.

  1. Confirm that records exist for everyone who finished
  2. For top finishers or cases that need checking, review photos and passing records
  3. Make manual corrections or status changes if needed
  4. Decide whether to publish the results now or hold them temporarily
  5. Export the data in the format you need

For the event-day process and the publication decision itself, see Operations Guide - Event day operations and Operations Guide - After the event. This page focuses on checks and output operations available from the result screen.

Check results

Review rankings

From the ranking tab on the event details screen, you can review result lists by category.

  • Score courses: ranked by score, then by time for tied scores
  • Fixed Order courses: ranked by time
  • Finished participants appear above DNF cases
  • Tied participants with the same score and time receive the same rank number

Review an individual result

Tap a participant to check detailed information.

  • Score breakdown including visit points, quiz points, bonus points, combo bonus, penalties, and adjustments
  • Lap data with passing time and split time for each spot
  • Route shown on a map
  • Photos taken with Camera Punch

:::note Bonus points and Combo Bonus breakdown The bonus points (Bonus QR) and Combo Bonus rows appear in the breakdown only when their score is 1 point or more. Tapping either row opens its details (which Bonus QR you earned and for how many points / which rule, how many checkpoints you visited, and how many points you got). On iOS it opens as a detail screen, on Android as a detail dialog. You cannot tap them from the punch list during play.

Do not change Combo Bonus rules after the event ends. The score itself is finalized with the value at finish time, but the detail screen recalculates with the latest rules, so the total can disagree and the note "Rules may have changed after finishing..." is shown. :::

Administrative actions

The following actions are available from the results screen.

ActionDescription
Adjust scoreAdd or subtract points manually
Edit start/finish timesEdit the start and finish times of a play record down to the second. Elapsed time, late penalties, and rankings are recalculated automatically
Change statusSwitch between finished and canceled
Set alias nameSet another display name for result output (Organizer Plan required)
Delete resultDelete a result from an event you organize

:::note Score adjustment and Combo Bonus When you adjust a team's play score, the score shown as the baseline for the adjustment does not include Combo Bonus. When you decide how much to add or subtract, account for the Combo Bonus portion of the breakdown separately. (On Android the note is shown in the dialog, but on iOS it is not, so take care.) :::

note

These administrator operations are available only in the smartphone app. They cannot be performed from the web event page.

:::note About editing start/finish times When a wrong time was recorded because of GPS or network trouble, or when a record is out of sync with a mass start, you can correct it to the right time.

  • Only individual play records can be edited (team play records are not supported)
  • Only records that are finished or canceled can be edited (records still in progress cannot be edited)
  • Only the time of day (down to the second) can be changed; the date cannot be changed
  • A history of who changed which time and when is kept :::

Participants worth checking first

You do not need to review every participant in equal depth. It is usually easier to start with:

  • Participants near the top of the ranking
  • Participants in categories where photo checks matter
  • Participants who made inquiries or reports
  • Participants whose finish time or visit records look unusual
  • Participants who may need DNF, cancellation, or manual correction handling

Cautions when making manual corrections

  • Before correcting anything, check the evidence such as photos, passing times, or communication logs
  • Apply the same standard to similar cases
  • Keep notes of the reason so you can explain it later
  • When you add or remove a visit record, Combo Bonus is recalculated with the current rules each time. A correction that crosses a threshold can move the score significantly (points already earned with a Bonus QR are not affected)

For judgment criteria, refer to Operations Guide - Event day operations and Operations Guide - Operational decisions for trouble cases.

Publish results

If "Hide live map and results list" is off in the event settings, rankings are automatically visible to participants.

If that setting is on, you can publish results after the event by turning it off.

Things to review before publishing

  • Photo checks and manual corrections for top results are complete
  • DNF and cancellation handling is consistent
  • Display names and alias names are acceptable for publication
  • No category should remain as provisional results

For timing of publication, also see Operations Guide - After the event.

Points to check in Team Play results

  • Team rankings are shown as intended
  • You can explain how teams with a retired member are handled according to the announced policy
  • Staff share the same understanding of how team start time and finish time are defined

For Team Play specific rules, see Set up team play.

Export data

You can export various data from the Manage screen.

If you are unsure which format to use

  • If you want to review the full results first: Results CSV
  • If you want a ranking table for publication: Leaderboard CSV
  • If you want team-based aggregation: Team Results CSV
  • If you want to organize registration and participant info: Entry List CSV
  • If you want to reuse spots in a future event: Spots CSV
  • If you need an external system or official result format: IOF-XML Ver3
  • Want to publish to the Lap Center lap-analysis service: Lap data (Lap Center format)

Fields in the results CSV

For score courses:

ColumnDescription
uidUser ID
nameDisplay name
totalTotal score
visitVisit points
quizQuiz points
bonusBonus points (points earned by scanning a Bonus QR)
comboCombo Bonus (points earned from a combination of checkpoints)
penaltyPenalty
adjustmentManual adjustment
timeCompetition time
start / finishStart and finish timestamps
distanceDistance traveled
spotsVisited spots in a format such as S-1-2-3-F, skipped spots marked with *
splitsSplit times for each spot

The bonus and combo columns hold points added in events/courses that use the bonus points feature. They are 0 in events that do not use it. These columns are output in both the Results CSV and the Leaderboard CSV. For how bonus points work, see Course and Spot Settings - Combo Bonus and Event management screen (dashboard) - Bonus QR.

For Fixed Order courses:

uid, name, time, start, finish, distance, spots, splits

For Team Results CSV:

id, team, total, visit, quiz, combo, penalty, adjustment, time, start, finish, spots, splits

The Team Results CSV includes the combo column for the combo bonus. Bonus QR (bonus) is not yet available in team events, so it is not included in the Team Results CSV.

Note that an individual's combo is the value finalized at finish time, whereas the combo in the Team Results CSV is recomputed with the current Combo Bonus settings at export time. If you edit the rules after the event, the value in the individual CSV stays the same while only the Team Results CSV value may change. Do not change the rules after finalizing results.

Export steps

  1. Select the target event from the Manage screen
  2. Choose Export from the menu
  3. Select the export format
  4. The file is generated and can be shared by email, cloud storage, and other methods

Things worth checking before exporting

  • No result that still needs manual correction is left
  • The target category and result set are the intended ones
  • If the export is for publication or sharing, display names and alias names are appropriate
  • You are clear whether the output is for future reuse or for event-day operations

:::note Exports that require the Organizer Plan Exporting Results CSV, Leaderboard CSV, Team Results CSV, Entry List CSV, and Spot CSV, as well as exporting PDF maps and spot sheets for event distribution, requires the Organizer Plan. PDF maps and spot sheets for personal use can also be output on the Player Plan. Note that IOF-XML Ver3 and Lap data (Lap Center format) exports are available even without subscribing to a plan. :::

:::note Export on the web At the moment, data export is available only in the smartphone app. On the web, only GPX download for individual activities is supported. In addition, PDF maps for purchased courses can be downloaded from the web purchase history page (My Page → Purchase History). :::
