Using NaviTabi at a School or Club (Outside Japan)
This page explains how pricing works when a school or club outside Japan uses NaviTabi in lessons or training. Events held in Japan or Austria are not covered by this page (see Pricing and Billing FAQ — Pricing for events outside Japan).
The daily play limit of an event is decided by the plan of the account that created the event. Your plan does not apply to events that another teacher created with their own account. If several teachers will use NaviTabi, read Using NaviTabi with several teachers first.
How daily plays are counted
The limit is counted per event and per day, as the total of all participants. What is counted is each combination of a student and a course.
- One student playing one course is 1 play
- The same student playing 3 courses on the same day is 3 plays
- If the same student plays the same course again, the play count does not increase
- Plays are counted per smartphone (account) used to play, not per student
In the app, each course belongs to a Category, and a category is what participants choose to play. So one "course" on this page means one category in the app (see Understand the Event Structure).
Examples
| Lesson setup | Calculation | Plays per day |
|---|---|---|
| 30 students each play 5 courses on their own smartphone | 30 × 5 | 150 |
| 30 students work in pairs, and each pair plays 5 courses on one smartphone | 15 × 5 | 75 |
| 25 students each play 1 course on their own smartphone | 25 × 1 | 25 |
If both students in a pair start playing on their own smartphones, it is counted as 2 plays. Decide in advance that each pair uses one smartphone, and the count will match your calculation.
If several classes use the same event on the same day, add up the plays of all the classes.
A course with 1 or 2 spots and a time limit of 60 minutes or less (or no time limit) is not counted as a play. You can use one to practice how the app works (see Pricing and Billing FAQ — Free play limits).
When the play count resets
The play count goes back to 0 every day at 21:00 UTC (6:00 AM Japan time).
| Region | During summer time | During winter time |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom and Portugal | 22:00 | 21:00 |
| France (Central European Time) | 23:00 | 22:00 |
For other regions, convert 21:00 UTC to your local time. In Europe the reset happens at night, so a daytime lesson is never split across two days.
Choosing a plan
Work out the largest number of plays you need in one day, and choose a plan with a limit above that number.
| Largest number of plays per day (per event) | Plan |
|---|---|
| Up to 10 | Free |
| Up to 30 | Organizer Plan |
| Up to 100 | School/Club 100 (shown in the app as School/Club Plan) |
| Up to 500 | School/Club 500 |
The School/Club plans also include every Organizer Plan feature (see Subscription and Billing — Plan comparison).
Prices
For the Organizer Plan and School/Club 100, check the price shown on the purchase screen in the app or on the NaviTabi Web plan page.
School/Club 500 is not shown on the purchase screens in the app or on the Web. As a guide, it costs €99.99/month or €599.99/year. The amount may differ by country and currency, and the price we tell you when you apply is the official price.
Applying for School/Club 500
School/Club 500 cannot be purchased in the app or on the Web. Please contact support with the following information.
- The billing cycle you want (monthly or yearly) and the date you want to start
- The official name and address to be billed
- Your preferred payment method
- Your VAT number or other tax number (if you have one)
- The registered email address of the NaviTabi account the plan should apply to
After the plan is set up, Settings -> Subscription in the app shows "Separate arrangement".
If you go over the limit only occasionally
If you go over the limit only a few days a year, you can instead buy additional play slots (1, 5, 20, or 50 slots) just for that day. You can buy them on the spot during the lesson, and they take effect right away.
- The slots you buy are added to the daily limit until 23:59 on the 7th day after the purchase
- They apply only to the event you bought them for
For the steps, see Event hosting FAQ — Purchase additional play slots.
If you go over the limit every month, moving to a higher plan costs less. As a guide, 20 slots cost about the same as one month of School/Club 100. Check the actual prices on the purchase screen in the app.
Using NaviTabi with several teachers
A plan is tied to the account that subscribed. There are three ways for several teachers to use it.
Option 1. Create the events with the subscribed account and add the other teachers as managers
- Subscribe to the plan with one account that represents the school
- Create every event used in lessons with that account
- Add the other teachers as event managers
The teachers you add can edit the event and check the results from their own accounts. You can add up to 5 event managers to one event. For the steps, see Staff Roles and Permissions — How to add staff.
Option 2. Create a group for the school
- Create a group for the school and add the teachers as Managers of the group
- Create the events used in lessons from the group
If at least one owner or manager of the group has a plan, that plan's limit applies to events created from the group. Any of the teachers can create events from the group.
Only members of the group can join an event created from the group, so the students also need to join the group. For the steps, see Manage Groups.
Option 3. Apply the plan to several accounts with a yearly School/Club 500 subscription
If you subscribe to School/Club 500 on a yearly basis, you can register up to 5 NaviTabi accounts. The limit of 500 plays applies to events created by any of the registered teachers. This suits schools where each teacher wants to create events with their own account.
Accounts cannot be registered from the app or the Web. When you apply, tell support the email addresses of the accounts you want to register.
Subscribing monthly only during the teaching period
You do not have to subscribe for a full year. A monthly plan can be canceled at any time, so you can subscribe only while your orienteering lessons are running and cancel when they end.
- After you cancel, the plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for
- The limit is kept for 7 more days after the period ends, and then goes back to 10 plays
- Subscribe again when the next teaching period starts
For how to cancel, see Pricing and Billing FAQ — How to cancel.
If you need an invoice in the name of your school or organization, read Pricing and Billing FAQ — What if I need an invoice or a receipt? before you subscribe. If you subscribe through the App Store or Google Play, we cannot issue an invoice.
Do not split events to raise the limit
Because the limit is counted per event, creating several events for the same place would raise the total number of plays. Article 10 (Prohibited Acts) of the Terms of Use prohibits this. Do not create several events in the same area or in neighboring areas in order to increase the number of free plays. The same applies if you create them with several different accounts.
If the places are really different, such as another park or another school, creating one event for each place is fine.
If you need help
If you are not sure which plan fits, or a lesson has stopped because of the limit, please contact support. We can help you faster if you tell us how many students take part in one lesson, how many courses each student plays, and how many teachers create events.
